Dr. Walter Schmitt joins esqLABS as Scientific Advisor
Walter Schmitt is an M&S scientist with more than 25 years of experience in the pharmaceutical and crop science industries. He will strengthen the esqLABS team of scientists with his deep knowledge in mechanistic and physiologically based modeling and its application in the chemical, crop, and pharmaceutical industry,
During his time in the industry, he was engaged in many different M&S-related activities, e.g. pharmacokinetic/pharmacodynamic modeling, prediction methods for drug properties, environmental fate modeling, environmental effects modeling, and others. His special focus lies on mechanistic, quantitative pharmacology methodologies, in particular, Physiology Based Pharmacokinetic Modeling. He was one of the main developers of the PBPK-software PK-Sim, the predecessor of the now open-source software OSP Suite.
Walter Schmitt is the author of more than 40 peer-reviewed publications and book chapters which are listed here.
Walter is a physicist by training and received his Ph.D. from the University of Cologne.
